East End Events By Sharon Scott I need to start off this week with a correction in last weeks article. Helen Specht celebrated her 88th birthday, not her 80th. Happy 88th Helen. (She would have been pretty young when Leo was born). Card of Thanks To whomever left the won- derful homemade fruitcake on my porch, I really liked it! AI- though I have asked several people, I don't know who the excellent baker was. I would give it a "blue ribbon" if I were judging it at the county fair. Thank you, you great cook, you. Doris Lessenden The Courthouse and Landfill will be CLOSED Dec. 31, 2010 and January 1 8 2nd, 2011. Merle and Carol Shalberg's children and grandchildren gave them a paid trip to the NRF in Ve- gas for their 50th Wedding celebration. They went Nov.9, 10, and 11th. Greg and Penni went along so they could help out and keep them from getting lost. Last Saturday Carol went to Colorado Springs shopping and took a wrong turn out of the mall and got herself thoroughly LOST! Maybe a GPS for Christmas? Our communities would like to extend their deepest sympathy to the family of Card of Thanks Words can not express our heartfelt appreciation for all the flowers, phone calls, food, cards and other acts of kind- ness shown to comfort us in the loss of our Father and Grandfather, Clarence Weber. We especially want to sin- cerely thank the Area Hospice who were so gentle, kind and helpful in comforting and car- ing for him. I want to wish each and everyone of you a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year. Card of Thanks The family of Ricky Buck would like to send out a sin- cere thank you to all the people who stopped by, called, brought food, sent flowers, and cards. Your support has helped us through the first step of our difficult tragedy. We feel so blessed to have so many people in our small community care and go to such great lengths to show how much Ricky meant to them. This is the only place we will call home for this reason. Thank you to Mr. Lance Jagers and the FFP, members who set up all the tables and chairs for the dinner. Thanks to all the churches in Eads for or- ganizing the dinner. We appre- ciate everyone in the commu- nity who provided the food and all the people that served the dinner after the unbelievable turn out at Ricky's service. We were comforted by the many people who cared and loved Ricky as we did. He was spe- cial to many in different ways. We also wanted to send out a big thank you to the Kit Car- son EMT's for the trailer they brought to the house to hold the over abundance of food. Finally. we would like to thank Jimmy Brown for his friendship and professional- ism. His kind words and per- sonal touches brought comfort to our family during this diffi- cult time. Please remember the good times you had with Ricky and never forget to tell your loved ones how you feel every day. Again thank you so much!
